Hurray It's a Snow Day

Yes the long awaited snow day has arrived. Large amounts of precipitation, the right temperature, high winds and the perfect timing have all come together to hit the Island with a powerful NorEaster. The best part about a snow day is Jason does not have to go to work. So he and Penny can relax, play a bunch and try new things. Of course snow days mean that pajamas are meant to be worn all day and time is set aside for reading a good book and listening to the wind blow.

Penny has had a great week. She is spending more time playing independently, shopping with mom, eating everything she can get in her mouth and watching her uncles play hockey. This pass Nana came for a visit and Penny and the girls went and saw Uncle Colby play against UPEI. The on Sunday the family watch Uncle Lance play against the PEI Rockets. Even though Penny is an Islander she made sure she showed her support for the Moncton Wildcats by wearing her new Jersey.

Yum! Yum! Yum!

It is hard to believe that Penny is now five months old. How time has gone by. It seems that every week Penny is trying something new. This week was no different. On Thursday night Penny had cereal for the first time. To say she loved it is an understatement. Martina couldn't put it in her mouth fast enough. Another highlight of the week was getting Penny's passport picture taken. You know how hard it is to get a baby to keep their eyes open and mouth closed?
This was quite difficult for Penny as she has been conditioned to smile every time there is a camera in front of her. In the end the lady got a great picture. To bad she won't look anything like her passport photo in six months. The weather was nice enough for a walk today, so the family headed outside and walked a couple of km's to Tims. Penny enjoyed the walk as she slept most of the time. Then it was off to watch Dad play hockey again. He played quite well tonight scoring the game winning goal. Not sure if Penny saw the goal as she was entertaining the children around her.

Home Sweet Home

After a great visit to see Grandma and Grandpa the Biech's are home and settling back in for the winter months. On Monday Penny was so excited as Nana made a surprise visit. Nana helped put away the Christmas decorations and spent time hanging with the Penny. The rest of the week Penny and Mom got back into a regular routine. Lots of time was spent playing with some new Christmas gifts and reading books. Friday night was spent with Pam and Al and the girls. Allie and Keira were so excited to see Penny. The highlight of Saturday was watching Daddy play hockey. Of course Penny at this age still thinks her dad has mad skills on the ice. Soon she will realize that her Uncles are the ones with skills and want their hockey cards and autographs.

Penny loves her play mat. She pulls at the toys and chatters up a storm. Often she will rotate on the mat 180 degrees. She has teased mom and dad by rolling over once. Both Jason and Martina can't believe how fast she is growing. In three days Penny will be five months old.
